Helen Wirt is an incredible woman with the most generous heart. She has dedicated her life to rescuing pets in need.
It all began after the woman divorced and lost her father in 1997. Baldwin, a dog, entered her life at that time and drastically transformed her future.
The generous woman dubbed her home in San Ramon, Costa Rica, “Dogland,” and began bringing stray dogs there. She looked after them, fed them, brought them to the vet, vaccinated them, and most importantly, she loved them.
The team grew over time, and Wirt wasn’t alone in caring for these dogs; her volunteers also do everything they can to make the dogs’ lives a little easier.
She is not affluent, and there are numerous fees associated with these pets, but she refuses to give up and continues her dedicated effort. Wirt had previously informed the Dodo.
“What I’m doing is nothing compared to what others are doing. I can’t change the world, but I can change the world for the dog I’m working with. It’s worth everything in this regard.”
More than 250 dogs have made their home in “Dogland” to date.
