Two of the neighbors went to investigate the loud pleas for aid coming from a basement of a Cincinnati home. When they arrived at the location, the owner agreed to let them in if they gave the dog who was kept there some water.
They were surprised and heartbroken when they reached the basement and saw the situation in which the young Bulldog was living.
The two-year-old dog, Gracie, was laying on the cold floor, clearly thirsty and hungry. When she spotted the visitors approaching the dark cellar, her first reaction was to pursue them and give them licks and kisses. That was how much she needed somebody to love her and be there for her.
The rescuers stated on Facebook that “her feet are caked in poo and her voice is hoarse from barking.” “She’s starving for attention and food (he feeds her by putting a bag of food on her every few days)… She is, nevertheless, really sweet. Can any dog rescues please accept her?”
The post was widely shared on social media, allowing Queen City Bulldog Rescue (QCBR) to learn about Gracie’s tragic life story. They were more than happy to accommodate her. The dog was given to them for $200 by the owner. He didn’t want her anymore, according to Chelsea Muenzer, founder of (QCBR), since she ‘wasn’t getting pregnant anymore.’
“She yearned for human contact!” The Dodo spoke with Muenzer. “She immediately trusted us the moment we met her, and I swear I knew she was secure.”
Despite the horrors she was forced to endure, this kind spirit has not lost her desire to live.
People couldn’t help but fall in love with Gracie’s adorable attitude because she was excited about her new life and was so welcoming.
Gracie was put in a foster family after receiving much-needed medical assistance. Her caregivers adore her, and she is highly likely to remain with them indefinitely.
“Right now, she’s living the nice life,” Muenzer remarked. “She’s discovered a new love for warm blankets, sunny walks, human kids, bubble baths, and cookies.”
She now looks and acts like a completely different dog, much happier and healthier, but she still has a lot to learn. She runs to the basement whenever she wants to use the restroom because she has done it for so long. Her family, on the other hand, is there to teach her everything she needs to know while ensuring she takes one step at a time.
Thankfully, the people in her life at the moment adore her completely.
