Opal’s new pittie brother urged his mother to retain her, and the entire family fell in love with her right away.

Not everyone would agree, especially if they were short on space and cash. It is our responsibility as dog owners to meet their needs and give them the best life possible.

With just one dog, some individuals find it impossible to accomplish this. If you have space for more than one, your favorite dog will certainly want a companion.

Brianna came across a pittie that had been rescued by Wags and Walks.

She went to the animal shelter to check on the puppy. Opal, the rescued pit bull with multiple injuries including a fractured jaw, was present. Because her tongue was curled and huge, it was visible from the side.

Brianna was unflappable. She inquired at the shelter about fostering and adopting her. After a few vet visits and making sure her problems were fixed, Opal was given a temporary home.

Brianna noticed Opal’s eagerness and care for her family despite having her jaws wired and having to wear a muzzle. She warmly greets them, giving them hugs and kisses.

The shelter has no idea what happened to Opal. Brianna found that Opal was most likely a stray dog that was hit by a car based on her wounds. Wags and Walks had spared the dog and given it a second chance, and she was relieved.

Opal met Brianna’s pitbull, Duke, at that time.

Both dogs were fenced in while Opal recovered from her injuries. They were obviously happy to meet each other, though. Their tails were wagging, and they were continually “speaking” to each other at the fence.

The two would scream and wail while Opal was imprisoned. Brianna knew she would have to wait till they were old enough to play together.

Fortunately, the two guys didn’t have to wait long.

Brianna eventually gave in and tore down the barrier between Opal and Duke. Duke had shown that he would be cautious with valuable Opal, therefore she was anxious about her injuries. And boy, did he support her!

They spent a lot of time cuddling and playing together. The only disappointment was that Opal couldn’t see Duke playing with toys and chewing at them because of her muzzle. Duke was probably thinking the same thing, and he was constantly attempting to get it out of Opal’s grip. Brianna, of course, would chastise him.

After five months, Brianna gained clearance from the veterinarian to remove the muzzle.

Opal and Duke rushed home and immediately began playing! They got to see Opal’s true personality: a playful, vivacious puppy that loves to play. With Duke by her side, of course.

Brianna recognized that Opal had become “Duke’s puppy,” and she didn’t want to separate her from him.

They opted to adopt Opal on Betty White’s birthday!
