Animal enthusiasts always go the extra mile to assist their furry companions in need, and we’ve highlighted their efforts numerous times here on Just Something. Sally Burky and her husband, a newlywed couple from Ozark, Missouri, share a deep love for animals and made sure to incorporate their passion into their wedding day.
While perusing Pinterest for wedding inspiration, like any other American bride-to-be, Sally stumbled upon a growing trend where bridesmaids carry puppies instead of bouquets. She thought it would be even more heartwarming to include senior dogs in this special tradition.
Motivated by her idea, she reached out to Ozark’s no-kill shelter, Haven of the Ozarks, a local animal rescue she frequently supports, and asked if they would be willing to provide some senior dogs for the wedding. Her intention was not only to make their day extra special but also to boost the chances of these senior dogs finding forever homes.
Thankfully, the shelter agreed, and on Sally Burky’s special day, the senior dogs proudly walked down the aisle alongside the bridesmaids. These dogs had been struggling to find permanent homes, but thanks to this loving gesture, they have now been adopted.
Additionally, Sally and her husband collected donations for the shelter during their wedding, further contributing to the cause. If you’re considering adopting an animal in need, you can visit Haven of the Ozarks’ website and Facebook page.
